Selena Gomez agreed to become Justin Bieber's girlfriend

Justin Bieber ‘shocked’ at getting ‘beautiful’ Selena Gomez as girlfriend Washington: ‘Baby’ hitmaker Justin Bieber has revealed that he is surprised with the fact that 19-year-old star Selena Gomez agreed to become his girlfriend because she’s ‘‘very beautiful’’.

According to reports, the 17-year-old heartthrob has admitted to being “shocked” when Selena agreed to go out with him, as he thinks she is too beautiful to be his girlfriend.

When asked about how he managed to get along with her on the ‘Mike Missanelli Show’ on Fanatic FM in the US, he joked: “I was pretty shocked myself. She’s very beautiful. We started as friends like two years ago, so we’ve been friends for a long time, so that’s pretty much kind of how it started.”

However, the singer disclosed that their relationship had started unusually.

“I had a girlfriend when Selena was my friend. I think we should be talking about sports,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

Bieber damages loaner Ferrari !

Justin Bieber (<A HREF="http://www.wenn.com" TARGET="newwindow">WENN.COM</a> file photo)LOS ANGELES -- The really odd thing about Justin Bieber getting into a fender-bender while driving a red Ferrari near his L.A. home last week is this: Justin Bieber doesn't own a red Ferrari. Nor a black Ferrari.
Police sources say the power car the 17-year-old was driving around was a loaner, and this is why he called in the cops for such a minor accident.
I've reported previously that Bieb's mom, Patti Malette, insists he drive a low horsepower, six-cylinder Ford Escape Hybrid simply because it's one of the safest vehicles for a distracted teen to drive.
Studies show the highways around Los Angeles are some of the most hazardous in the world.
Kelly Browning, the head of a California teen safety driving program, said kids under 18 are at a much greater risk of accidents on these treacherous highways because of their immaturity.
"For new teen drivers, this is the most dangerous time of their lives. Teens should not be driving cars with a lot of horsepower. They can still barely navigate an off-ramp."
So why was our pop treasure driving a Ferrari with a super-vroom horsepower?
According to reports, the Italian automaker often loans out its cars to big celebrities. It then uses photos of the celebrity driving the ultra luxurious car as a marketing tool.
How could a kid say no? How could anybody say no? Who wouldn't want to drive the sexiest car on the planet?
The day of the fender-bender, Ferrari had allegedly brought the car over to Bieber's house, and he was merely taking a small tour around the 'hood.
Let's hope Biebs keeps himself safe from now on in a vehicle that touts dual airbags and safety gear instead of speed.
ASKING ALEX: Knock, Knock!
Who's there?
Alex Trebek.
Alex Trebek, who?
Hey, I said it's Alex Trebek, so I ask the questions.
OK, I just made that up, but I'm not joking about the huge draw Canada's beloved expat was as host of last Sunday's Hollywood Bowl concert, "The Big Picture: AFI's Great American Movie Quiz."
With a full orchestra and a huge movie screen as props, Trebek gave the audience questions of varying degrees of difficulty, covering every movie genre and decade.
The audience answered via one of the three coloured glow sticks they were given when they arrived.
Trebek looked dapper and strong, despite having to occasionally sit down due to that incident in July when he chased a woman burglarizing his hotel room, and ruptured his Achilles tendon.
Out and about: Saw Dean McDermott with his young kids and very pregnant wife, Tori Spelling, at The Malibu Chili Cook-Off last Sunday, an annual fair in the seaside community. Dean ate chili while the kids shared popcorn and waited in line to get on the bumper cars. Luckily, Tori found a bench and took a load off while Dean took the tots on more rides.

Justin Bieber about to add ‘tech start-up’ investor?

Is pop singer Justin Bieber about to add ‘tech start-up’ investor to his long line of titles?
Rumors are that the young 17 year old is following in the footsteps of actor and venture capitalist Ashton Kutcher and may be looking to invest in tech start-up.  Business Insider came out with the information and while there is nothing that has been released publicly, but Alyson Shontell did say that she did hear about a stealth New York startup.  While they are not at liberty to announce which startup just yet with other high profiled celebrity backers on board.  Shontell also made reference to Bieber — an Ontatio, Canada, native — playing a pick-up basketball game with Canadian Steve Nash (of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns) and investor Michael Duda.  Nash and Duda are co-founders of Consigliere, a marketing firm and investment fund that funded the New York start-ups Birchbox, StellaService, and Chloe & Isabel.
While the ‘Baby’ singer has made no comment on the rumors.  Justin also had a little game with Steve Nash recently when he crossed over the professional basketball player during a charity game.  What startup would you like to see Justin back?

'Justin Bieber' Wants to be Married by 25

Getty Images

Justin Bieber isn't yet old enough to vote, but the 17-year-old seems to have his life plan all figured out. The teen star says he wants to be a young dad, and sees himself getting married at about 25.

He said in an interview this week: "Well by 25 or 26, I want to see myself, like, married or start looking for a family," he said (via People.com). "I want to be a young dad."

But just because he sees himself with a Mrs. Bieber before the next decade's up, he wants to clarify: "
One thing. I'm not looking to get married now."

The teen star did however call his current girlfriend Selena Gomez "amazing," and we imagine if they're able to weather life in the spotlight together for the next eight years, then maybe, just maybe, she'll become Selena Bieber. Kind of has a nice ring to it, right?

Anyway, for now, the Bieb likes Selena+Gomez in 2011 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpetplaying sports and being a "regular" teen. He said: "I love to play sports and stuf. I love just hanging out with my friends. I'm just a regular 17-year-old. I grew up playing hockey so I like to get on the ice every once in a while. I love to play basketball and I try to play soccer as much as I can."

Of course along with the normal stuff comes touring the world, hanging out with other celebs, and making tween fans cry. And, he makes it a point to give back. He explains: "I didn't have a lot. I grew up in geared-to-income housing. It was always rough for me. We went to the food drive all the time. I always thought, 'If I ever get rich or famous, I will help people who are less fortunate than me.' This year I'm helping with the food drive in my hometown. I'm just trying to do as much as I can with everything I do."

He raised money for one of his favorite charities Pencils of Promise at Fashion's Night Out Thursday in NYC by charging fans $195 to meet him and get a special T-shirt. The event raised enough money to build a school. Biebs is also planning to donate proceeds from his upcoming Christmas album to charity.

Justin Bieber fan dies of leukemia,May his soul R.I.P

It seems like almost every day Twitter breaks out into mass mourning after the passing of one boy band fan or another. This time it’s a male Justin Bieber fan, Drew, who has died after a battle with leukemia.
RIP Drew has been trending on Twitter for most of the day. ‘Beliebers’ act like a family and when a prominent member dies, they mourn him in unison via Twitter. In many cases, they try to get their idol – Bieber himself – to mention the sad news.
While it might seem somewhat trivial, the fact is that Twitter has had a substantial impact on the way that people mourn. In many cases, this manifests as a kind of communal ‘wail’. This ‘wail’ might be articulated via Twitter, but in many ways it’s connected to more traditional forms of mourning.

Justin Bieber Wear Women's Jeans' !

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber will always be famous for his coif, namely those statement-making bangs that he recently cut. Now, he’s made an actual statement about his choice of attire that will certainly be remembered but shouldn’t shock anyone. He wear’s women’s jeans.
Dudes in rock bands (like Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz) as well as other emo acts have been raiding closets and wearing girl’s pants forever so it’s not exactly uncommon.
During Fashion Week, the ever stylin’ Biebs told both the fashion/beauty trade WWD and the supermarket tab Life & Style that he has worn women’s denim for one reason and one reason only: the fit. The Biebs confessed, “I’ve worn women’s jeans before because they fit me. It’s not a trend; it’s just, whatever works, works.”
Hey, at least Bieber admits that he knows what works for his body shape and type. Now he can share some attire with his girlfriend, the lovely and talented Selena Gomez?
Oh, and speaking of Gomez, The Biebs, who is all of 17, was asked about marrying his lady love. His comments on the institution of marriage are certainly just as headline-making as his women’s jeans reveal. “I feel like if it happens, it happens,” the teen said. “Right now I’m just focusing on my music, and I feel like it’s going pretty well. I definitely believe in marriage, but not any time soon. We won’t live together until we’re married.”
Bieber sees marriage in his cards by age 25 or 26. He said, “I want to see myself, like, married or start looking for a family. I want to be a young dad. I want to be able to have done what I wanted to do, to be successful, to do a movie or whatever. But if the time is right, I definitely want to be married by 25.”
There you have it. The Biebs wants to be wed, have children at the quarter century age mark and make a movie. Those are some good life goals to have. Could you imagine if he and Sel get hitched, though?

Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj rocks at Fashion Night Out

Justin Bieber hit New York last night to join the fashion elite at the Transatlantic Fashion Night Out event.
Sporting a sweet purple leather jacket and geek glasses, Bieber fitted right in alongside some of the most fashionable women in the world who all turned out to support their favourite designers.
Amongst those out in force in New York was Nicki Minaj who was seen rocking an amazing Oriental style outfit complete with green eyeshadow and hair pins. We're not sure if she looks more elegant or lethal but either way we love it.
No fashion event is complete without Sarah Jessica Parker or Alexa Chung and they were both in New York last night too.
Take a look through the New York Fashion Night Out pictures above and be sure to check out Cher Lloyd, Tulisa, Gwyneth Paltrow and more at the London event.

Is Justin Bieber Uses Lipstick ?

Justin Bieber
Check out more photos of Justin Bieber
At Fashion's Night Out, Justin Bieber answered a very important question that his fans must be dying to know the answer to: does he wear lipstick?
The Biebs was present for Dolce & Gabbana's prelaunch celebration for the new "Passion Duo" lipstick, so he was bound to be asked a few questions on how he keeps his pout in perfect condition under all those harsh, lip-cracking lights. So has he taken a page from Katy Perry by using cherry Chapstick? Does he opt for a moisturizing lip gloss in a nice neutral shade? Or has he raided Selena Gomez' makeup bag looking for the perfect undetectable lip stain to match his complexion?
Unfortunately Justin Bieber wasn't ready to disclose his makeup secrets to his many adoring fans, although he did make it very clear that he does not wear lipstick. In fact, when he was asked about the theory that many male celebrities wear lipstick, he didn't seem too happy about it, so he defensively turned the question around by asking an inquisitive reporter, "Do you wear lipstick?" (The answer to that question was probably "yes" -- male and female reporters alike wear loads of makeup).
And despite the fact that he was at an event celebrating makeup, Justin Bieber wants his fans to know that he's not a fan of it. He had this to say about the cakey camouflage: "A little's fine, but at the end of the day, you have to be yourself. If there's more makeup on your face than your face, then that's kind of weird." Luckily Selena Gomez seems to be a natural beauty that is in no danger of looking "weird."
So take heed, Beliebers -- Justin is no fan of the fake, caked-on look. It's always a good idea to use a little bit of makeup to enhance your natural features like big doe-eyes and cute sprinklings of freckles, rather than attempting to hide your whole face with eyeshadow all the way up to your brows; massive amounts of bronzer; and huge fake eyelashes. Hear that, Kim Kardashian?

Teen Star 'Justin Bieber' wants to be a young dad !

Teen Pop star Justin Bieber wants to be a young dad and is keen to start a family by the time he is 25.

The 17-year-old who has been dating model and actress Selena Gomez since a year said he wants to get married and start a family soon, Contactmusic reported.

"Well, by 25 or 26, I want to see myself, like, married or start looking for a family. I want to be a young dad. I want to be able to have done what I wanted to do -- to be successful, to do a movie or whatever. But if the time is right, I definitely want to be married by 25," Bieber said.

The Baby hitmaker' had previously said he wants to raise his future children in his native country of Canada.

"I'll probably want to move back to Canada and raise my family. Why? I dunno, I'm Canadian, I feel like I want my kids to be Canadian," he added.

Justin Bieber Kisses a Girl, Guess what ? It's Not Selena Gomez!

Justin Bieber just planted a kiss on an adorable girl who happened to not be his girlfriend, Selena Gomez. But the pretty pop starlet has no reason to be jealous of this particular recipient of Bieber's smooch—she's two years old!
Bieber spent much of Thursday evening at one of his favorite go-to design houses, Dolce & Gabbana, where he hosted the Madison Avenue boutique's Fashion's Night Out party with his manager, Scooter Braun. While there were many gorgeous females (and models like Karen Elson) making the rounds, Selena Gomez was conspicuously missing. That said, during the event, Bieber only had eyes for one girl: Gossip Girl dad Matthew Settle's toddler daughter, Aven.
File:Justin Bieber April 2011.jpgSettle brought his special date to the D&G party, proving Fashion's Night Out is for all ages (and that he's definitely getting his daughter started at a young age on the fast track to high style!). As for he and Aven's run-in with host Justin Bieber, the Gossip Girl star revealed to Holly Baby, "Justin Bieber kissed her wrist and tickled her belly. Amazing... He's really cute, she's really cute."
Indeed, Justin Bieber looked plenty cute at the New York City party, where he pulled out his nerd-chic card again and rocked his updated version of horn-rimmed glasses matched with a deep plum leather jacket. His signature style must have even charmed Fashion's Night Out founder herself, Anna Wintour of Vogue, as she posed with the 17-year-old pop sensation.
Of course, Bieber also got some camera time with blonde model Brooklyn Decker; that is, in between signing autographs and purchases for fans. Another bonus for Justin Bieber's FNO 2011 experience, in addition to the girl power? According to Coco Perez, a percentage of D&G's sales that evening benefited one of his fave charities, Pencils of Promise. Now, that's a trend that will never go out of style.

Celebrity preview: Selena Gomez & Justin Bieber?

Image
It’s a much-quieter-than-normal weekend as Las Vegas joins the nation in remembering the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attacks a decade ago. Respecting the Sunday ceremonies in New York, our Weekend Celebrity Preview events are kept to just today and tomorrow.
Hard to believe that 10 years have passed, and back then we were just 60 days away from George Maloof opening the Palms. Hard to believe our town became so empty that we flew out first-responders from the Manhattan tragedy to thank them with a free vacation here.
All of us remember those awful moments and like me probably have a friend or know somebody who was directly affected by the tragedies and bravery in New York and at the Pentagon. Madame Tussauds at the Venetian is offering free admission to firefighters, Emergency Medical Team members and police officers on Sunday to say thanks and recognize their service.
The big question tomorrow involves Justin Bieber. Will he make it to The Strip to be with gal pal Selena Gomez and perhaps even surprise her with a walk-on at her Mandalay Bay concert? Will the cuddly, kissing couple turn up at our Las Vegas hotspots (where they can enter legally anyway!)?
I’ll keep watch on those two even as I celebrate a milestone birthday and 50 years of celebrity journalism with a blowout bash tonight at Encore Beach Club and Surrender at Steve Wynn’s Encore. Expect Strip stars to join the festivities and a few surprises, as well.
It also is the weekend that singer-impressionist Gordie Brown, a former opening act for Celine Dion on tour, celebrates his 500th show downtown at the Golden Nugget. Congratulations, good friend!
Here’s the Royal Robin Rundown:
Friday, Sept. 9
Music fans may choose among wild rock and country hits: Country king Garth Brooks continues his successful residency at the Wynn for two nights. … Crosby & Nash play Mandalay Bay Events Center, Shaggy is on the Mandalay Bay Beach, and Blue October rocks the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. … Gordie Brown celebrates his 500th show at the Golden Nugget through tomorrow. … Billy Currington sings at Sunset Station. … The Airborn Toxic Event, Sleeper Agent, Red-Light King and Otherwise rock Sunset Station. … Viva Brother performs at Hard Rock Cafe on The Strip. … And Marcy Playground is poolside at Silverton Casino Lodge.
For comedy fans, there is Henry Cho with a three-night run at South Point. … Mark Curry has a weekend-long gig at the Las Vegas Hilton. … Chris Porter of Last Comic Standing entertains fans at The Playboy Comedy Lounge at the Palms for two nights. … And Dustin Diamond, Screech from Saved By the Bell, brings the laughs to the new Big Al’s Comedy Club at the Orleans through Sunday.

My pal actor Dennis Haskins, known for his long-running role as Principal Belding on Saved By the Bell, hosts the Back to School bash at Chateau Nightclub & Gardens, with dinner beforehand at Sugar Factory American Brasserie. … R&B star Iyaz performs at The Bank in the Bellagio. … And of course my 50 years of celebrity journalism party at Surrender and Encore Beach Club.
Saturday, Sept. 10
The Iggy and the Stooges concert at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel has been canceled because of Iggy Pop’s fractured left foot. But others play on led by Disney teen queen and Justin Bieber main squeeze Selena Gomez & The Scene at Mandalay Bay Events Center as Slightly Stoopid plays Mandalay Bay Beach. … Collective Soul unveil the group’s memorabilia case and performs at the Hard Rock Hotel. … Thievery Corporation is at Boulevard Pool at the Cosmopolitan. … And Brass Transit plays the music of Chicago at Suncoast.
For the funny bone, there’s late-night Politically Incorrect satirist Bill Maher at the Orleans for two nights. … Paul Rodriguez with Murray “The Unknown Comic” Langston headline for two nights at the Riviera. … “Weird Al” Yankovic is at the Cannery. … And One Night, Two Stars features Amr Diab and Arash at the Hilton.

*Gorgeous girls looking for a big modeling break: FHM hosts an open casting party with photographer Laurens Antoine.
It’s time for us to get ready to party, but we’ll be here throughout the weekend -- and then Monday with super-sexy photos from Donald Trump’s Miss Universe Pageant in Brazil with stunning redhead Alyssa Campanella of California who won her Miss USA title at Planet Hollywood three months ago, plus reports and photo galleries of the celebs at work and play in The Entertainment Capital of the World.

Justin Bieber Meets a Baluga Whale

Justin Bieber Gets Serenaded by a Beluga Whale
He sang his way into the hearts of millions of teenage girls, but this time it was Justin Bieber who got serenaded. On Tuesday, the pop star heard the sweet chirping sounds made by a beluga whale, otherwise known as the canary of the sea.

Bieber spent the afternoon with a 1,700-lb. male whale named Beethoven at the Beluga & Friends interactive program at Atlanta's Georgia Aquarium. During the intimate experience, the white marine mammal displayed his high-pitched sounds and let the star feed him fish.

The singer donned a wet suit for the hands-on encounter, which allows visitors to act as trainers and wade in the water alongside the majestic sea creature. Bieber gained a pal through the experience and shared a photo of them together on Twitter.

"Hung out with a new friend yesterday," he wrote.

Bieber isn't the first star to find a buddy in Beethoven. Actress Betty White has visited the whale twice and even wrote a chapter about him in her new book, If You Ask Me (and of Course You Won't).

Justin Bieber's Hits Up FNO for "Pencils of Promise"

Swinging into the Big Apple for a daylong visit after spending the past few days in Atlanta, Justin Bieber was spotted out during Fashion's Night Out in NYC on Thursday (September 8).
The "Baby" hitmaker sported his spectacles and a colorful purple jacket as he popped into Ray's Pizza for a bite to eat before heading over to the Dolce & Gabbana store on Madison Avenue.
Once inside, Justin joined up with buddies Usher and Scooter Braun, while also mingling with fellow guests such as Brooklyn Decker, Anna Wintour and Pattie Mallette.
Having made the D&G appearance to help raise funds for Pencils of Promise, Bieber tweeted as he left the high-end boutique, "that was not what i expected and a wild day. but in the end we raised enough for charity to build another school with @pencilsofpromis"
The 17-year-old proceeded straight to the airport, as he later wrote, "on the plane flying thru the night. thank u 2 all the fans who showed up 2nite. got to rock with my brothers @asherroth and @usherraymondiv"
Continuing on, Justin finished up by tweeting, "headed back out west to work on this #MUSIC. excited for you guys to hear it. Christmas album this november. #charity"

Fashion's Night Out 2011-Best Scenes

They came, they met their favorite celebrities, they shopped a little. From Justin Bieber’s surprise performance to Sarah Jessica Parker signing Manolo Blahniks, The Daily Beast reports on the best of Fashion’s Night Out 2011.

For Jessica Kaufman, the decision to attend Fashion’s Night Out happened at 3 p.m. Thursday, right after she got home from high school. That’s when the 16-year-old checked her Facebook page and saw a status update that Justin Bieber would be at Manhattan’s Dolce & Gabbana store that night. She tossed on a dress and bolted for the door of her Westchester home—with her mother in tow. A few hours later, she was huddled inside the Madison Avenue store with a crowd of other squealing teens who had all shelled out $35 for the tube of lip gloss required for purchase to stand in an area of the store where you might glimpse Bieber. “I’m more in love with him than any person I’ve ever seen!” she squealed.
Welcome to Fashion’s Night Out, the annual global shopping bonanza engineered by Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Now in its third year, the event featured 1,000 retailers in New York City, joined by participants in over 250 American cities and 18 countries. Stores opened their doors after-hours to throw parties, host celebrities, and greet customers—all in the hope of selling clothes. Once referred to as “Anna’s fashion stimulus package,” Fashion’s Night Out has become a massive global fashion party.
Last year’s event modestly boosted retail and raised over $800,000 for charity, but the event has become known amongst shoppers as a goldmine for freebies: A night to guzzle champagne, stock up on free t-shirts, and win prizes. This year, though, things were different: Retailers wizened up to the freebie-game—and found new ways for visitors to shop. It seemed to have worked: Around New York, people were slowly willing to shell out if it meant having a good time.
At Diane von Furstenberg’s store in the Meatpacking District, scores of young women came to meet the designer. Standing by the cash register, she had no trouble as doubling as a salesgirl herself. Someone inquired about a bag and von Furstenberg (who is married to Barry Diller, chairman of IAC, an owner of The Newsweek/ Daily Beast Company) began explaining why they should buy it. “Look,” she said, running her hand along a slot on the side. “You can put your iPad here.”
Alexander McQueen designers judged a talent show in the downtown store; Michael Kors joined a kick-line with the Rockettes; Miss Piggy descended on Opening Ceremony at the Ace Hotel—and Sarah Jessica Parker signed Manolo Blanik heels. Shoppers responded, buying cardcases at Tory Burch, nail polish at Chanel, limited edition key chains at Alexander McQueen, and moccasins at Bottega Veneta.

Fashion Night’s Out: Photos

At Macy’s in Herald Square, Erica Wilkins, 28, had come from New Haven, Connecticut for the sales. “This is the first time I’ve ever been to this Macy’s. I could stay all night,” she told The Daily Beast, admitting she planned to spend “a little money.”  Did she care about any of the famous faces milling around? Tommy Hilfiger, Coco Rocha, Joss Stone, Samantha Ronson, and designer Rachel Roy were among a slew of celebrities at the department store. “I came for Kelly Rowland and then they said she couldn’t come,” she sighed.
Wilkins wasn’t the only one disappointed with some aspects of the big night. Former Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean was a no-show at Kiehl’s in the East Village. Vandana Madhavan, an economics student at NYU made the trek to the Upper East Side with two friends from school to get an autograph from Jason Wu at Bergdorf Goodman—that is, until a neighboring patron told them it cost $150. “I was going to let you finish the interview,” Madhavan joked to The Daily Beast, “but I need to get out of this line!”
Even some of those with Bieber Fever were disappointed. “The lady said buy lipstick and you could get Justin Bieber’s autograph,” says Natalia Reiss, 15, a sophomore at St. Vincent Ferrer High School in New York, who bought two tubes to see the teen idol, but didn’t get to be up close with the singer.  “We’re going to return it because we didn’t meet Justin Bieber,” she said. When the singer finally descended the staircase at 8:40pm, he sang only a cover of Asher Roth’s “I Love College” before sprinting back up the stairs. For a Daily Beast reporter who spent nearly three hours in the store, the only glimpse of the teen was a blur of his purple jacket.
Designers and editors making the rounds for the night, meanwhile, seemed unsurprisingly upbeat. “The best part for me is really that everybody is so enthusiastic,” Narciso Rodriguez told the Daily Beast at Bergdorfs. “They’re out and they’re interested and they’re shopping, we hope.”
It’s like when you go to MoMa, you’re not there to buy the Van Gogh, you’re there to experience it.
“Getting people into stores is key,” said Elle’s junior fashion editor, Sarah Schussheim. Vogue’s entertainment editor, Jill Demling concurred, saying the event “encourages people to come back to stores, and it’s a great opportunity to get out and celebrate fashion.”
Further up New York’s famed fashion’s paradise Madison Avenue, Valentino Garavani took a casual stroll with a friend while stopping to take photos with admirers along the way.  “It’s very amusing, I think it’s a very good idea,” he said of the event—but he steered clear of his own store.
At the end of the day, Fashion’s Night Out has at least one noble achievement: Making fashion more democratic. “It’s more about being a part of something bigger,” said Kaya Hayes, a 20-year-old FIT student outside Alexander McQueen.
“It’s getting to see the fashion, the shopping, what’s new for fall,” said Jorge Adrian, 27, in line at Bergdorf Goodman. “If it helps the economy too, that’s great.”
“It’s about enjoying the culture of fashion and celebrity,” said Nellie Gayle, 18, a student at Barnard College standing on Fifth Avenue. “It’s like when you go to MoMa, you’re not there to buy the Van Gogh, you’re there to experience it.”
Jessica Bennett, Jacob Bernstein, Lizzie Crocker, Ramin Setoodeh, Misty White Sidell, and Isabel Wilkinson contributed to this report.

"Taylor Swift'' punked by "Justin Bieber" !

Justin Bieber reportedly used Taylor Swift's friendship with his girlfriend Selena Gomez to Punk the country singer.

The 17-year-old has taken over from Ashton Kutcher as celebrity prankster on the MTV show, and is said to have lured Swift round to his beach pad by asking her to help him write a song for Gomez. A source told Hollywoodlife.com, "Justin called Taylor Swift and asked if she would come over to his beach house and help him write a song for Selena Gomez. Taylor agreed and even asked him to open for her at her show that night at the Staples Center."

The Biebs then apparently convinced Swift to help him set off some fireworks in his backyard before making it look like they have actually set fire to a nearby boat where a wedding was taking place.

Actors dressed for the occasion then swam up and accused Taylor of ruining their big day. "Taylor didn't start crying but was very freaked out and was like 'OMG I'm so sorry!' Justin was trying to downplay the situation. When he said she'd been punk'd she started laughing and said, 'How could you do this to me?!'" the source added.

Be ready because 'Justin Bieber ' Will Make Madison Avenue Unbearable Tonight

dandbieber0911.jpg
Dolce & Gabbana have announced their special Fashion's Night Out guest this evening will be Justin Bieber—but even though the night is supposed to be for the people, the company is keeping their event RSVP-only. However, our inside source at the Common Sense Headquarters tells us that the Beliebers will show up uninvited, and with their vocal chords all warmed up for hours of shrieking. (The party will be at their Madison Avenue boutique, kids.)
According to JB Hot Spot he'll "be hosting a party celebrating the brand's Passion Duo lipstick along with his manager Scooter Braun and four Dolce-designated 'Passionate Duos': Ingrid Vandebosch and Jeff Gordon, Thierry Henry and Tyson Beckford, Lauren Santo Domingo and Tatiana Santo Domingo, Erica Reid and L.A Reid." This isn't even the most confusing part about the event!
Bieber (a fave of the designers) won't even be performing... but Asher Roth will be? D&G was never really known for their music supervision, we suppose.

Is Selena Gomez thinking for Break up with Justin Bieber after using him? Fans think so

Selena Gomez is a star in her own right, but romance with boyfriend Justin Bieber has the fans nervous. Plenty of chatter online reveals there are theories of conspiracy about why Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are actually dating. And many say there will be a break up in the very near future.
While some of the fans see the couple's romantic gestures as love, other fans see it as an agenda. Taking the time to outline the different conspiracies from the Justin Bieber fans, it appears fans think Selena is using Justin Bieber for a fame. Getting fans to her concerts, having her audience go online and connect with her to get her messages, Selena Gomez would become a bigger star and then break up with Justin Bieber.
While all the conspiracies Justin Bieber fans seem to show have Selena as the bad guy, it has to be said that the heart will go where it wants. Selena and Justin made a choice as a couple and decided by both parties, she having one being a good guy and the other bad is so unlikely.
Another conspiracy is that the young couple came together for "national political operatives" reasons. Bizarre as it might sound, some feel Justin Bieber would be a good choice for political office and this would groom his reputation early in life. Justin Bieber as President? Well, that would be years from now.
The idea that Selena Gomez would use Justin Bieber for any reason, and then break up is crazy talk. The young couple apparently is just having a little fun and the cameras aren't avoidable. As known, they have tried to keep the paparazzi away and it hasn't worked as the fans want to see them.
So is Selena Gomez breaking up after she uses Justin Bieber? Oh so doubtful.

Dolce & Gabbana's Surprise Fashion's Night : Justin Bieber

2011_09_justin-beiber-fashions-night-out.jpg
Hold the phone and stop the presses: Dolce & Gabbana just made a major Fashion's Night Out announcement. Turns out that when they said they'd have a special celebrity guest at their event this evening, they meant Justin Bieber. He'll be hosting a party celebrating the brand's Passion Duo lipstick along with his manager Scooter Braun and four Dolce-designated "Passionate Duos": Ingrid Vandebosch and Jeff Gordon, Thierry Henry and Tyson Beckford, Lauren Santo Domingo and Tatiana Santo Domingo, Erica Reid and L.A Reid.
It sounds like Bieber won't be singing, although he will autograph any item purchased on the spot. The evening's entertainment includes DJ Ruckus and Hannah Bronfman, a show by Asher Roth, and clips of passionate clinches in classic Italian movies. Keep in mind that this is an RSVP-only event, though that probably won't stop obsessed Beliebers from camping out on the sidewalk.

Dolce , Gabbana and Bieber!

Fashion’s Night Out may be getting Biebered.

Rumor has it that the surprise celebrity guest Dolce & Gabbana has planned for the festivities at its Madison Avenue boutique tonight will in fact be Justin Bieber.

Though the buzz couldn’t be confirmed at press time, an appearance by the high top-favoring teen idol would make sense. The brand had already announced that the event would benefit Pencils of Promise, a nonprofit founded by Adam Braun, brother to Bieber’s manager, Scott “Scooter” Braun. Bieber has served as a spokesman for the school-building chairty.

The singer is, of course, no stranger to the in-store appearance. He drew a large, lively and occasionally raucous crowd of teenage fans and onlookers to Macy’s Herald Square in June for the launch of his fragrance, Someday.

For the more chaperone-aged of those sure to wind up in the crowd tonight, Dolce & Gabbanna will be showing reels of passionate moments in Italian cinema including cuts from “Divorce Italian Style,” “Mamma Roma,” “Senso” and “The Leopard.”

Justin Bieber Learn Flirtatious Moves from Usher!

File:Justin Bieber 2010 3.jpg

September 07, 2011 08:05 PM EDT

Justin Bieber is not always as sweet and innocent as he looks, or as clean-cut and wholesome as he acts around Selena Gomez. Not according to talk show host Chelsea Handler. Did he learn his flirtatious moves from Usher? International Business Times reports of the story.
The R&B singer, named last year by Glamour as one of the sexiest men alive, and who is well-known as The Biebs's discoverer and original mentor might just be a bit out of the "Never Say Never" star's league, stud-wise. Yet when Usher tried to talk Handler into his traveling hot tub on her show this week, it made her think of an interview with Justin Bieber.
Say what? This whole idea is almost too ludicrous to believe, but Handler went on: "Justin Bieber tries to pull [moves of this same kind] when he comes [on the show], too," the hostess said. "Now I know exactly where he learned it from. Anything I talk about he plays it around like he and I are gonna start some torrid love affair." A torrid love affair between Chelsea Handler and Justin Bieber is pretty ludicrous, too.
No one worries that Chelsea Handler can't take care of herself, but Usher's image and that of Justin Bieber are mega-miles apart. Probably most Bieber fans hope they will stay that way. Or at least, fans' parents do.

Justin Bieber Works On Labor Day, 'PSA',Films 'No Texting And Driving' !

justin bieber shoots psa on labor day
What a wonderful way to spend your Labor Day! We are inspired!
Check out the photo (above) of Justin Bieber filming a public service announcement for his "No Texting and Driving" campaign in Avondale Estates, Georgia yesterday.
As a reminder, here's what The Biebs had to say about his campaign back in July:
"As a 17-year-old driver, I am aware of the countless distractions that we teenagers face on the road, and texting is one that is preventable. There are too many young people, like Alex Brown, whom we've lost because of texting while driving, and it is my hope that, through this partnership with PhoneGuard, we will raise awareness of this issue and create safer conditions for everyone on the road."
We're totally on board! This is a crucial issue, and we are SO pleased that you're devoting your time and energy to spreading the word, Justin!

Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez At Pool Party — New Pics!

It’s no secret Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are completely infatuated with each other, but these new photos just prove it even more! In the pics, Justin, 17, and Selena, 19, are hanging out with friends — but judging from one photo in particular, they were far more into each other than anyone else at the party. Can YOU spot them?
Although we don’t know exactly where or when these pics were taken, we’re pretty sure they are from the same pool party in Philadelphia in August when Justin posted an Instagram of himself kissing Selena and called her his “babbyyyy.”
While everyone else frolicked in the pool, Jelena was getting at it on one of the lawn chairs. Do YOU think it’s adorable or totally inappropriate? Sound off below!

Justin Bieber’s Latest Charity Program Involves Basketball

0

Justin Bieber recently participated in a basketball game for charity. He was playing on Ludacris’s team to raise money for the Ludacris Foundation, a non-profit organization that has donated cars to the underprivileged in Atlanta. Here is what Bieber tweeted about his involvement:
We were down and then made a crazy comeback and even my man @carmeloanthony tried to win it at the end and couldnt take #teambieber. we made a lot of money for #charity today at the game. thanks to everyone who supported and to @ludacris for living as an example to others.
Its obvious that Justin Bieber enjoys getting involved in charity projects and perhaps that interest could open up new career horizons should he ever have the desire to change careers. I think its really awesome that Bieber donates much of his time to lots of cool projects. What do you think about his frequent involvement in charities and which one was your favorite? Do you think that all celebrities have a social responsibility to use their name and status to better society? I personally don’t think that it should be mandatory but I would imagine that everyone has some kind of charity or project that they would like to become involved in.

Check This out , who rules Facebook

NEW YORK: A North Carolina diet doctor has come up with a formula to create the most highly engaged audience on Facebook in the world, far surpassing marketing efforts by celebrities and sports teams.

He draws on the words of Jesus and posts them four or five times a day. The doctor, Aaron Tabor, 41, grew up watching his father preach at churches in Alabama and North Carolina, and his Facebook creation is called the Jesus Daily. He started it in April 2009, he said, as a hobby shortly after he began using Facebook to market his diet book and online diet business that includes selling soy shakes, protein bars and supplements.

For the last three months, more people have "Liked," commented and shared content on the Jesus Daily than on any other Facebook page, including Justin Bieber's page, according to a weekly analysis by AllFacebook.com, an industry blog. "I wanted to provide people with encouragement," said Dr Tabor, who keeps his diet business on a separate Facebook page. "And I thought I would give it a news spin by calling it daily." Facebook and other social media tools have changed the way people communicate, work, find each other and fall in love.

While it's too early to say that social media have transformed the way people practice religion, the number of people discussing faith on Facebook has significantly increased in the last year, according to company officials.

Overall, 31% of Facebook users in the United States list a religion in their profile, and 24% of users outside the United States do, Facebook says. More than 43 million people on Facebook are fans of at least one page categorized as religious.

Much of the conversation on social platforms is fostered by religious leaders, churches, synagogues and other religious institutions turning to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to attract followers and strengthen connections with members.

What is new is that millions of people are also turning to Facebook pages, like the Jesus Daily, created by people unaffiliated with a religious leader or a specific house of worship. With 8.2 million fans, the Jesus Daily counted 3.4 million interactions last week, compared with about 630,000 interactions among Justin Bieber's 35 million fans.

'I'm like a baby Rihanna!-Justin Bieber's ex Jasmine Villegas

Jasmine Villegas (who you may recognise from some Justin Bieber videos; she was in Baby and Eenie Meenie) has had a little chat about her upcoming album and what kind of music we can expect from her.
She also compared herself to Beyoncé and Rihanna - which, admittedly, we do ourselves too, but only ever on a Friday night on the dancefloor after a few beer lollies.

"[My album] is going to be really relatable to my fans," Jasmine told American Cheerleader mag.
"There are a lot of songs about first crushes and heartbreaks.
"Music wise I see myself as a baby Rihanna - only toned down a bit."
"You know how Beyoncé has a fierce alter ego? like I feel like I have one, too. I can be the girl that’s vulnerable and then the total opposite—the girl who’s talking about a guy having to work for my love."

She talked about her musical influences too, and says she was a big fan of Jacko without even knowing it!
"My parents told me that when I was a baby I’d mumble the lyrics to “You Are Not Alone” by Michael Jackson a lot," she revealed. Umm, while that's all very cool and 'muso' ish, it's a bit creepy too, non?
"Music was something I grew up with. I’d go crazy without it."
Click next to have a look at the behind the scenes video from Jasmine's photoshoot - she's looking gorge!

You'll Never Guess the wish-Justin Bieber reveals

Justin has expensive cars, clothes and a gorgeous girlfriend but there’s still one thing he dreams about!

Justin Bieber is one of the most recognizable faces in the world but even he gets a little tired of all the attention. The 17-year-old took to his Twitter on Sept. 4 to answer a fan question and you’ll never believe what he said! One of Justin’s 12 million followers asked him: “@justinbieber if you could..would you for one day go back to being a normal kid? just for a day #randomquestion.”
To which he replied: “@gabbygrutt14 yeah…for more than 1 day. i love my life but yeah. this question stuck out to me. i wanted to answer it. thanks.”
We totally understand how much Justin loves going back to Stratford Ontario, Canada and shooting hoops with his boys. But don’t you think Justin is better off as a world famous popstar than just a regular kid?

Most 'Liked' on Facebook Recently? Jesus, Not Bieber !

Daily Jesus
Justin Bieber was so a few months ago. Jesus? He's eternal. And according to Facebook, he's also well "liked."
As reported by the New York Times, the most “Liked” page on Facebook for the past three months didn't have to do with popular singers, crazed soccer fans or silly time-wasting games, but was Jesus Daily, a page created by Aaron Tabor, a doctor in North Carolina, as a hobby.
Now with about 8.5 million likes, interaction on Tabor's creation surpasses all others on Facebook with 3.4 million folks liking, commenting or sharing thoughts on the page in one week (Bieber fans mustered under 700,000 similar interactions).
With so many people facing struggles in life, Tabor says he wants “Jesus Daily to be a central place where they find encouragement, no matter what battle they are fighting.”
The Times says religious Facebook pages have taken off well beyond Jesus Daily, as religion-themed pages of multiple languages pepper the top-20 Facebook pages. But that shouldn't surprise anyone, as more than 43 million Facebook users have become a “fan” of at least one religious page and 31% of all U.S. users have a religion listed in their profile.
Tabor originally started his page in 2009 after seeing Facebook's success in promoting his diet book and online nutrition business. “I wanted to provide people with encouragement,” he told the Times. “And I thought I would give it a news spin by calling it daily.”
The page boasts Bible verses, quotes and photos of everything from animals to paintings of angels, all in an effort to support people in their faith.

Justin Bieber Tweets on Being Normal...is he Normal?

                                            sound check
Justin Bieber had a twitter moment where he missed being "a normal kid." He can't go back, but as he ages he seems to get better.
For those Justin Bieber fans who don't follow him on twitter, or follow him but don't always get to viewing his latest tweets, here's some news: on September 4, 2011, in the midst of tweets about his charity basketball game in Atlanta, he tweeted about being normal. Or about wanting to be normal.
The thoughts came up after a question from gabbygrutt14, one of Bieber's 12,435,918 followers on Facebook. She asked Bieber if he would like to be able to spend time again simply being "normal," whatever that might be. "@justinbieber if you could..would you for one day go back to being a normal kid?" gabbygrutt14 asked Bieber. "just for a day, #randomquestion."
That question got from Justin Bieber a seemingly honest reply, and a telling one. "yeah...for more than 1 day. i love my life but yeah. this question stuck out to me. i wanted to answer it. thanks," he wrote. He then followed that response with this: "but i feel really blessed to do what i do. very grateful. i am normal though."

Justin Bieber Helps Out !New Anti-Text and Drive Message

Justin Bieber feels he can help stop texting and driving and gave more time on Sept. 5 to promoting Drive Safe, an app that helps keep kids safe.
If all you Justin Bieber fans wanna know what your guy did on September 5, 2011 all you really need to know is this: he did some good. The Biebs spent parts of the day filming a "spot" for a free app that could save the lives of people who continue to text while driving a car.
Many young people still text and drive and Justin Bieber wants to get the message to as many as he can that they need to stop. Bieber suggests people use an app on their phone called PhoneGuard; Bieber has contributed to the cause of keeping the road safer by giving his time to promoting it before and Fb on the 5th about doing it again, though he didn't reveal exactly where the shoot was taking place.
“Out here shooting a spot for #PHONEGUARD today. met alot of cool people in this neighborhood," Bieber tweeted. "#PHONEGUARD is the best way for you to find your phone when u lose it and also stop you from texting and driving. we all need to do our part. Sign up if you havent already. thanks. #phoneguard #donttextanddrive.”

Bieber Gets Out Anti-Text and Drive Message

He tweeted further about the app and said it's the best way to prevent yourself from being tempted to text and drive; return tweets indicate many fans have already gotten, or say they will get, the app because of the Justin Bieber recommendation. It prevents your phone from being able to text as you drive and Bieber got on board promoting it to help save lives.
While stats show drinking and driving makes you 4 times more likely to have a car accident, high numbers, they also show you are 8 times more likely to have an accident while texting and driving. Studies show that your reaction time is slowed down considerably when you text and drive. Texting and driving is now illegal in many U.S. states, in Canada and other parts of the world.

Bieber Promotes Drive Safe

The app has a free component called DriveSafe and more advanced components that must be purchased. The PhoneGuard website is promoting the app by offering up a contest to win a signed Justin Bieber touring jacket.
Bieber has been part of previous anti-text and drive messages and he's worked alongside the Brown family of Texas, who lost their daughter Alex Brown to texting and driving in 2009. Alex's parents and her sister have been active in getting the word out their about the dangers of the practice.
"We all need to do our part," Bieber tweeted

Justin Bieber crosses up Steve Nash, lockout hits home for 'Jared Dudley'

Like

It’s generally not national news when a point guard blows by Steve Nash on the way to the hoop.
But when that point guard is teen pop sensation Justin Bieber, that story gets more than it’s fair share of play.
A nine-second clip of Bieber crossing over Nash off a pick on his way to the hoop with girlfriend Selena Gomez squealing for him in the background has been making the rounds on the Internet after Bieber tweeted a link to it on Friday and wrote “hold up though…is that the REAL @SteveNash - yes…yes it is…#crossover.” The blow by occurred during a pickup game in advance of a charity game in Atlanta.
See the video below:

he video has since received over 568,000 views on YouTube as of this writing and 236,000 on TwitVid. It even spent time on the Yahoo! front page, which would be pretty astounding aside from the fact Yahoo! often leads with stories like this that are sure to draw clicks.

Nash took things in stride and tweeted: “Thanks to @justinbieber I’m trending in Buenos Aires, Australia and Canada. Hola, G’Day, eh?”

In the clip Nash tries to go over the pick but Bieber instead crosses over to get to the tin and thus a highlight is born.

Dudley missing unofficial start of season

Labor Day weekend is usually about the time that Phoenix Suns players return to the Valley for voluntary workouts in advance of training camp.

With the lockout far from over, that of course is not the case this season.

“Today feels like the 1st day of the lockout!! This time last yr I flew back to phx to start preparing for the upcoming season,” Jared Dudley tweeted. “In July an August is usually travel, family, and training time.. September the time u get back to Ur team to start bonding and chemistry.”

The players and owners met on Wednesday, but we’re still weeks if not months away from the conclusion of the lockout.

With players continuing to work out on their own (we hope) rather than returning for team workouts, the lockout officially starts to affect players’ normal routine this week.

For Dudley that means getting some run in the Impact Basketball Competitive Training Series in Vegas that will features eight teams with seven or eight NBA players each, according to Howard Beck of The New York Times. JD is the only Sun currently expected to play, but The Arizona Republic’s Paul Coro reported that Dudley is trying to get Channing Frye, Josh Childress and Aaron Brooks to join him as well.

The league is scheduled to start on Sept. 12 with the games streamed live online. Beck’s story said the league is expected to feature “some expectation of defense,” so along with rosters containing only NBA players the so-called Lockout League will be much different than the pro-am games staged throughout the country the last couple months.

Justin Bieber's Ex: The Next Rihanna !

Justin Bieber's ex Jasmine Villegas is comparing herself to Rihanna. But is she really a younger version of the singer?

Jasmine might look a little bit like the Justin Bieber's girlfriend Selena Gomez, but she would rather be compared to the "S&M" singer—or at least a less risqué version of her. It's safe to say that she won't mimic some of Rihanna's controversial ways, which include getting a gun tattoo, singing about whips and chains, giving fans lap dances, wearing the c-word on a necklace, and showing murder in a music video. However, Jasmine does want to work with RiRi someday.

It's great to see that Jasmine Villegas hasn't let that whole horrible stalker thing stop her from pursuing her musical career, but it's a little bit sad that she's not dating Justin Bieber anymore—he's actually pretty good pals with Rihanna and was even spotted sitting next to her at an NBA All-Star basketball game earlier this year. So if Jasmine and Justin were still dating, he probably could have hooked her up with a chance to work with her idol.

So what does RiRi think of her boy BFF hanging around with her ex Chris Brown and even collaborating with him? Well, since she and Brown reconnected via Twitter, perhaps she's actually forgiven her ex for the horrible way he treated her. And even though she's friends with Justin Bieber, surely RiRi wouldn't spurn Jasmine Villegas because of that. After all, she and Jasmine have something in common—they've had very public relationships with very famous men.

Unfortunately Jasmine hasn't become as famous as Rihanna yet, but the 17-year-old still has plenty of time to develop her own eye-catching style and signature sound, and who knows? Maybe someday the Biebs and Brown can team up against Jasmine V and RiRi in a duet duel.

Check Jasmine working on her craft with the song "Natural" below.

Selena Gomez Concert was a Mile High (video) in Colorado

Gorgious Selena Gomez was jamming in the Rocky Mountains where the altitude is a mile above the sea. Taking the stage in Colorado the entertainer performed for a full house in the venue in Broomfield,Colorado. The latest stop on her concert tour, the Saturday night show was the last concert before she headed to Atlanta with her boyfriend Justin Bieber for the charity basketball game.
The show had the fans screaming nonstop. As with other stops on her tour, the stands were full and buying a ticket on at the event was impossible. Sharing the costumes, music and excitement with the locals, had the fans rocking in the Rockies.
The performance, one of dozens slated over the summer gave the fans a glimmer of what the Disney princess had grown into. No longer just standing on the stage, the concert brought together dance and singing in hopes that fans walked away with an experience. Different than years past, the stage presence during the concert was Gomez's inspiration. After the show, her items boxed as Selena Gomez heads to Salem, Oregon for her next show.

Are Your Daughters Too Pretty To Do Their Homework???

The world’s most offensive t-shirt reads, “I’m too pretty to do my homework so my brother has to do it for me.” The product description on JCPenney’s website says, “Who has time for homework when there’s a new Justin Bieber album out? She’ll love this tee that’s just as cute and sassy as she is.”
Um. EXCUSE ME.
With t-shirts out there spouting off things like “Future Trophy Wife,” “For Sale For 10 Karats,” and I’m Too Pretty For Math,” I have to wonder what has become of us.
I mean, my daughter is gorgeous. I mean totally flippin’ beautiful. So beautiful that modeling agents stop us in airports (and I kindly tell them she’s not for sale.) And my daughter is not just sweet, compassionate, sensitive, loving, and creative, she’s freakin’ awesome at math. At five, she’s already doing multiplication tables. And she loves doing her homework, even when there’s a new Justin Bieber album out.
What’s up with you, clothing retailers? As a parent, I struggle every day to raise my daughter with the message that her value lies within and has nothing to do with her stunning blue eyes, her California bronze skin, her slim body, and her long blonde hair. She gets enough messaging from strangers who come up to her in the grocery store and take photos of her on their iPhones in the lobby of the movie theater.
I am a beautiful woman who went to Duke University, graduated from medical school, and ROCKED calculus. I kicked butt on my SATs, graduated second in my class from med school, was nominated to the very exclusive honor society (beating out all the boys in my class for the most coveted leadership slot), and knocked my boards out of the park.
I’m pretty – and I did ALL my homework myself. So there.
And yet, when I met my former husband in medical school (who had to endure three years of failure before finally getting accepted into medical school – I got into six schools on my first try, thank you very much), his parents patted me on the shoulder when they met me and said, “You’ve landed a doctor now, honey. You can drop out now.”
WTF? I was a year ahead of him in school and top of my class! Not to mention I felt called to be a doctor. I was pursuing a life dream. I certainly didn’t apply to medical school just so I could marry a doctor. Needless to say, I had a rocky relationship with my ex-in-laws.
I did marry that guy, but he never once paid my bills – I paid his, in fact. No man has ever paid my bills for me since I left home.  I bought my own diamond ring when my man proposed. And I still look hot in my little red dress at 42.
Women like me are the rule these days, not the exception. Just check out the hot movie stars who sport Ivy League degrees and write their own screenplays.  Check out the gorgeous doctors and lawyers and mathematics professors. Most blondes with big boobs are not bimbos and most geniuses are not homely.
Just because you’re beautiful doesn’t mean you’re not talented, financially independent, and good at math. Yet the stereotype exists.
Why? Because of t-shirts like this God-awful one JCPenney released and marketed to girls age 7 to 16.
Fortunately (this gives me great hope for humanity), this t-shirt spawned a social media tornado.
In this article, clothing designer Melissa Wardy said, “I advocate for girls and against this kind of gender stereotyping in the marketplace.  My little girl starts kindergarten tomorrow… I don’t want her to see a shirt like that on her classmate, something saying that pretty is cute and right and the academics should be left to the boys.  It incorporates all of the wrong messages for girls. Why are we conditioning kids to wear something that degrades their self-worth?”
Tired of t-shirts like this, Wardy launched her own line with t-shirts that read “Pretty’s got nothing to do with it” on the front and “Redefine girly” on the back.
“There’s nothing wrong with being girly,” Wardy says. “I’m not anti-pink. I’m not anti-princess. I’m anti-limitations.”
AMEN, sister! Now that, to me, is OWNING PINK.
The name Owning Pink was born 7 years ago, on my 35th birthday, when my friend was pregnant with a little girl and her husband started spouting off about how his little girl was never going to wear pink. I put my hands on my pink sundressed hips and said, “What am I? Chopped liver? You tell your daughter she just has to OWN pink.”
That’s what I’m talking about, my friends.
Fortunately, amidst public outcry, JCPenney’s removed the t-shirt from their website. (Phew!)
But it’s up to us to prevent these kinds of messages from skewing society’s view of what it means to be a beautiful girl or woman. As long as women believe their value lies in being pretty, they will suffer emotionally, limit themselves, undergo plastic surgery, get Botox, mourn menopause, cling to youth, and convince themselves that they’re worth less once they’re no longer beautiful on the outside. Which is just a travesty.
I know better. I’m not as hot as I was at 25, but I’m even more valuable. I’m wiser, more awakened, more compassionate, smarter, more talented. I just am. Who I am and why I have worth has NOTHING to do with how I look. Period.
The same is true for you.
Do You Know Where Your Value Lies?
Have you been able to recognize that your beauty really does lie within? Will you help break the stereotypes that continue to limit women?  Will you be a voice that helps to heal self-worth?
We must be the change. Do your part, love.
Owning Pink,
