CMT Nom Leader:
Jason Aldean!
The 2011 CMT Music Award nominations are a virtual who's who of country, with four surprises -- Justin Bieber, Adele, Train and John Mayer!? Jason Aldean leads the pack with four noms. Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, the Band Perry and Zac Brown Band trail with three each. The Voice's Blake Shelton, American Idol alums Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, Reba McEntire and Toby Keith make showings as well.
Justin Bieber just refuses to be held down. Last year, the Never Say Never pop phenom scored a BET Award nod and this week, he's nabbed a CMT nom for his music video collaboration with Rascal Flatts, That Should Be Me.
Biebs has tough competition in his category however. He and Rascal Flatts are up against Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean's Don't You Wanna Stay; Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow's Collide; Aaron Lewis’ Country Boy, with George Jones and Charlie Daniels; and Loretta Lynn, Miranda Lambert and Sheryl Crow's Coal Miner's Daughter.
Adele, Train and John Mayer are each up for CMT Performance of the Year for their collabs with Darius Rucker, Martina McBride and Keith Urban, respectively. They're up against Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffett and Reba.
The fight for the big award, Best Video, includes Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party, Kenny Chesney's The Boys of Fall, Lady Antebellum's Hello World, Miranda Lambert's The House That Built Me, Rascal Flatts' Why Wait, Sugarland's Stuck Like Glue, Taylor Swift's Mine, the Band Perry's If I Die Young, Carrie Underwood's Undo It and Zac Brown Band's Colder Weather.
Male Video of the Year contenders include Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban, while Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, Reba, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood duke it out for Female Video of the Year.
Winners are determined by fan votes. You can check out the full list of nominees and then get in on the voting here. Then see who takes home the trophies when the 2011 CMT Music Awards air on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
